NORTHERN IRELAND JUDICIAL APPOINTMENTS COMMISSION
FULL TIME VICE-PRESIDENT OF THE INDUSTRIAL TRIBUNALS AND FAIR EMPLOYMENT TRIBUNAL
Please note: This selection exercise is NOT run by the Judicial Appointments Commission of England and Wales (JAC). It is run by the Northern Ireland Judicial Appointments Commission (NIJAC).
The Northern Ireland Judicial Appointments Commission is inviting applications for the office of full time Vice-President of the Industrial Tribunals and Fair Employment Tribunal. It is intended to make one appointment.
The Vice-President sits as Chairman of the Tribunal and also assists the President generally in carrying out her duties including ensuring the judicial quality and efficiency of the tribunals and monitoring (including appraisal of) the work of the tribunal chairmen and panel members. In addition the Vice-President will be required to deputise for the President as required
Eligibility
To be eligible for appointment a person must:
- have a seven year general qualification within the meaning of section 71 of the Courts and Legal Services Act 1990;
- be an advocate or solicitor admitted in Scotland of at least seven years' standing; or
- be a member of the Bar of Northern Ireland or a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Northern Ireland of at least seven years' standing;
Salary
£116,116 per annum from 1 April 2007.
A non-contributory pension scheme is available in respect of this post. Five years service is required in order to be eligible for a pension under the scheme.
