Under new arrangements you can apply for this position if you have held a relevant qualification for five years and gained law related experience. For the first time registered members of the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys and Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys can apply. The full entry requirements are in the information pack.
Appointed Persons hear and decide appeals from the decisions made by the Trade Marks Registry. Responsible for the effective conduct of hearings, the successful candidate will decide on matters of law and procedure, assess awards and determine amounts to be paid. The role is fee-paid and is expected to involve approximately 15 days a year.

Fee: £600 plus VAT per day.
