How we select
Since October 2006, the JAC has been using a new system for selecting judges, and new criteria for what makes a good judge.
The JAC selects candidates of good character for judicial office based solely on merit. We work to ensure that eligible candidates are drawn from a diverse range of backgrounds.
Information about the selection process and the qualities and abilities which the JAC looks for in a judge is available from the left-hand menu. This section of the website also provides information on our good character guidance, and other JAC policies and procedures.
