Qualities and Abilities - Self Assessment
This is an extremely important part of your application. Please be concise, as any information in excess of two pages will not be used to support your application. Bullet points and note form are acceptable.
Before completing this section, review the qualities and abilities provided in the application form and consider why you are suitable for the post, relating your qualities and abilities to those provided as fully as possible.
At every stage of the selection process we will be assessing you on one or more of these qualities and abilities. It is these and only these that the selection panel are assessing. We are not concerned with whether you are a member of ILEX, solicitor or barrister, where you went to university, where you practice, your gender or ethnic origin.
When completing the self-assessment form and during the interview, please use examples that demonstrate each of the qualities and abilities that have been identified for the role. Use evidential examples and avoid simple assertions ("I would be a good Judge because my senior partner says so", "I am a senior partner, therefore I command respect"). The panel need to be given examples of how you have demonstrated the qualities and abilities.
You can draw on your full range of work and personal experience to demonstrate these qualities and abilities including, for example, voluntary work or any publication to which you have contributed.
When completing this section of the form, try to list your examples in the order in which the Qualities and Abilities to which they relate appear on the application form.
