Upper Tribunal, Asylum and Immigration, Fee Paid Deputy Judge

The Judicial Appointments Commission is looking for 40 Deputy Judges to sit in a fee paid capacity in the Upper Tribunal and deal with work arising from the right of appeal on asylum and immigration cases from the First-tier Tribunal.

You will use the specialist knowledge and experience you have acquired, probably as a salaried or fee paid Immigration Judge, to review questions of law, preside over appeal hearings and determine paper applications. You will also contribute to the development of the Chamber through your relationships with all judicial colleagues.

All Deputy Judges of the Upper Tribunal are also Judges of the First-tier Tribunal and may be deployed to undertake work there. Deputy Judges are expected to be available for at least 15 days per year.
