Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales 2017

The Lord Chancellor has asked the Chairman of the JAC to convene a panel to select a successor to the Lord Chief Justice, Lord Thomas of Cwmgiedd, who will be retiring this year. The selection panel will include Lord Neuberger, Dame Valerie Strachan, Professor Noel Lloyd and Lord Justice Fulford.  It will be chaired by Lord Kakkar, Chairman of the JAC.

Notifications of intent to apply are invited from candidates who are able to serve for at least 4 years before retirement. The notifications are required by 30 March and completed applications by 27 April 2017.  Interviews are expected to take place in June, the exact date of which will be confirmed in due course.
